The Budgetel brand was brought back to life in March 2007 by brothers Mukesh “Mike” Patel and R.C. Patel, with a focus on AAHOA’s 12 Points of Fair Franchising. Now they’ve turned the brand over to America’s Best Franchising. The decision will move the brand to its next strategic level of development, said Mike Patel, chairman of Budgetel Franchise System and a founding member of AAHOA.
America’s Best Franchising has the infrastructure, know-how and reputation to grow the Budgetel brand in a way that enhances the brand by capitalizing on ABF’s solid track record in the upper-economy segment,” Mike Patel said.
America’s Best Franchising first partnered with the Patels in 2007 to handle back office operations for the brand. The partners “thought the brand could go the next step with larger sales distribution and cross-branding opportunities,” said Doug Collins, president and CEO of America’s Best Franchising. They signed a licensing agreement with an initial five-year term, followed by three additional five-year terms. ABF will be the sole worldwide franchiser and management firm for Budgetel, and the Patels will continue to own the trademark.
